Geneva, The Peace Capital

Geneva, Switzerland is the most popular city of Romandie and is known to be the 2nd most famous city of Switzerland. The town has a population of about 191,415 and is the third financial center in Europe where London and Zurich rank first and second respectively.

It is ranked as the eighth financial center in the world and the statistics of 2009 show that it is the third city that has the highest quality of life all over the world. Geneva is a very essential UN international co-operation center with New York and a hub for diplomacy.

Transportation

Geneva Cointrin International airport is also known as the Cointrin airport that serves Geneva. From the city center the airport is around 4 kilometers from the northwest and you have the bus lines, railways and the motorways directly connected to the airport. The airport is easily accessible from Switzerland and France since its northern limits moves by the Swiss and French border. The airport is partly based in the community of Meyrin and partly in the community of Grand Saconnex.

According to the data available for 2009, the number of passengers serves by this airport is 11,324,141 which is a decrease of 1.73% as compared to 2008. The airport is also connected to the Geneva Airport railway station with both Swiss and French network with direct links to TGV, Paris, Marseille and Montpellier. The Climate

Geneva is known to have a moderate temperature where in the winters are a relatively mild but the nights are a bit cold. You may experience snow in the coldest months. Summers are nice and warm but the autumns are a little wet as compared to the other seasons. In winters you can experience the ice storms near Lac Leman quite often.
